Lounge is accelerating its bricks-and-mortar expansion

Lounge has confirmed its first international store will open in Westfield Centro shopping centre in Oberhausen, Germany, in June.

The retailer will also open a new 1,248 sq ft store in Cardiff, which will welcome shoppers from May 10.

Lounge told Retail Week it has seen “incredible” growth across Europe recently and the new openings come as part of the next phase of its growth strategy.

Customers will be able to shop Lounge essentials, as well as its new reversible swimwear range and nightwear.

The stores are expected to house features including a breastfeeding “safe space”, in-store bra fitting, assisted shopping and premium gift-wrapping services.

Lounge said it has seen strong growth across its apparel ranges, particularly in stores, with an 85% uplift in sales over the past six months compared with the six months prior to the opening of its first store.

The retailer confirmed plans to increase the amount of apparel it launches moving forward, starting with the launch of its ‘On Campus’ lifestyle collection.

Lounge co-founder Melanie Marsden said: To be able to launch another two stores so quickly into this year after the success of opening our first four in 2023 is incredible.

“The feedback we’ve received from our customers since our initial openings has made us confident in our continued rollout, and we’re so happy to have locations in Wales and Germany on the horizon.

“It’s our mission to empower women to feel sexy and comfortable in everything that they are, and being able to do this in person is key for our next stage of growth.”

Lounge is also opening another pop-up store, The Study Shop, in London next weekend.
