Game chief executive John Steinbrecher will be replaced by deputy chief executive Martin Long next February.
Steinbrecher wants to educate his children in his native US but, according to a statement, 'will help to provide continuity by being available as a strategic adviser to the group.'
Commercial director Lisa Morgan becomes deputy chief executive designate.
Chairman Peter Lewis said: 'During his (Steinbrecher's) time as chief executive, the group has become firmly established as the leading retailer of video games in the UK, with sales growing tenfold to more than£500 million.'
- Game must continue to pay former parent Electronics Boutique 1 per cent of its UK turnover after the Court of Appeal upheld an earlier High Court decision.
