Tesco has been re-elected to the PCI Security Standards Council’s Board of Advisors, after already having served a two year term.
Alongside Tesco representing the UK on the board for the next two years will be Barclaycard and Royal Bank of Scotland. Wal-Mart is the other major retailer representative on the 14 member board which was created to help set the direction of the council and the evolution of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
The board will continue to play a leadership role, working with other industry stakeholders to examine the impact of different technologies and industry specific challenges on the implementation of the standard. It represents the 500 participating organisations who are stakeholders in the standards compliance process.
The new board’s first undertakings will be to review the results of an emerging technology study commissioned by the council; and preparing for the 2009 PCI Security Standards Council community meetings in Las Vegas in September and Prague in October.
