Marks & Spencer played host to former US vice-president turned eco warrior Al Gore at its Plan A conference last week.

As might be expected of such a political heavyweight, Gore can hold a room. He threw in a few jokes too as he hit out at those who fail to recognise climate change.

“Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt,” he quipped. The old ones are always the best.
