Discount supermarket chain Aldi has this week launched a flower delivery website as it seeks to widen its offer in 2009.

The site offers bouquets from£14.99 including delivery and a range of fresh flowers and plants are available.

Earlier this month the retailer launched Aldi Travel, an online travel agency.

Aldi said flowers on its latest site are “carefully selected and will offer seasonal changes to ensure the freshest quality arrive on the doorstep”.

Its managing director of corporate buying Tony Baines said: “2008 has proven to be a fantastic year for Aldi in terms of growth of market share and Aldi is keen to increase its offering in new areas throughout 2009.

“Aldi has built a solid reputation for quality and value and we’re now applying our buying expertise and efficient business model to offer exceptional quality for a very affordable price in other markets and product areas. The launch of aldiflowers.co.uk demonstrates our ongoing commitment to this.”
