This week, Mike Bradshaw joins as director of in-store marketing and Ruth Spencer will arrive on April 14 as director of customer loyalty. Both will report to marketing director Elizabeth Fagan.
Bradshaw joins from Morrisons, where he was marketing services controller, responsible for co-ordinating the conversion of the Safeway stores to the Morrisons fascia. His role at Boots will be to ensure the store environment remains easy for customers to navigate.
Spencer will move from the Co-operative Group, where she was customer strategy director and was involved in launching its membership offer across its multiple businesses.
At Boots, Spencer will lead the retailer’s customer relationship marketing to deliver enhanced loyalty from its 15 million Boots Advantage Card members.
Fagan said: “Boots has always put the customer at the heart of its business and the structure of the marketing department reinforces this. The two appointments strengthen our ability to act on customer insights quickly.”
It is understood that Barracuda, the executive search retail boutique, handled both assignments on behalf of Boots.
Alliance Boots bucked the tough Christmas trading trend to post healthy like-for-like sales in the final quarter of last year. The group’s retail division, excluding dispensary, is understood to have increased like-for-like sales by 6.9 per cent over the period.
Pharmacy sales are thought to have risen 5.2 per cent and overall sales at the retail division climbed 4.8 per cent over the quarter.
