Amazon Prime Day broke records for the online giant as sales surpassed its previous Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales combined.
The online goliath has hailed its biggest ever shopping event after its Prime members bought over 175 million products during the 48-hour flash sale earlier this week.
During the two-day sale on July 15 and 16, customers bought a record number of Amazon devices including the Echo Dot and Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote.
Other bestselling items included the Sony PlayStation Classic Console, Oral-B SmartSeries Electric Toothbrush and the Shark Vacuum Cleaner.
Prime Day also set another record for small independent businesses selling on the site. Globally these retailers exceeded over $2bn (£1.6bn) in sales.
Amazon UK country manager Doug Gurr said: “Every year, we look forward to offering Prime members great deals across everything they need from homeware and fashion to the latest in tech and our own devices.
“This year we’re thrilled that members in the UK had access to more deals than ever before, helping make Prime Day 2019 the biggest global shopping event in Amazon history.”
