Specialist retailer American Golf has boosted its board with the appointment of former Iceland executive Trudy Hills as trading director.
Hills, who has held roles at Asda and Iceland, will lead buying and marketing for the golf specialist, and will oversee a team of 15. As part of her role she will work with leading sports brands such as Adidas, Callaway, and Titleist and to expand the retailer’s product range.
Kevin Styles, chief executive of American Golf, said Hills’ appointment “adds real value to our management team as we continue to expand the business”. He added: “She has an impressive track record in retail and that experience will be pivotal in enhancing our product offering.”
Hills joins American Gold from Iceland Foods, where she was category controller for frozen and chilled, but she is also a former buying director for Pets At Home and general managers for health and beauty and babycare at Asda.
Founded in the late 1970s by brothers Howards and Robert Bilton, the business has grown to 103 stores in the UK and has annual sales of £133m.
