American Golf has hired former Habitat and Best Buy director Kevin Styles as its new chief executive.
Styles, who was most recently group chief executive of Habitat for four months before it went bust last year, joined the golfing specialist last week.
American Golf’s has been without a boss since Nick Wood left to take the chief executive role at Pets at Home following Matt Davies’ departure.
Prior to his time at Habitat, Styles was UK marketing director for US electricals giant Best Buy for two years during its failed attempt to crack the country. Beforehand he was managing director at Kingfisher-owned Trade Depot.
American Golf was bought by private equity firm Sun European Partners in December last year for an undisclosed amount. The private equity firm believes there is potential for the 88-store retailer to reach 140 in the UK and is eyeing 10 to 15 shop openings a year domestically.
It is also set to tee off overseas expansion and has identified Germany, France and Sweden as its target markets.
