Online fashion retailer Asos achieved a 35% uplift in revenue to £223m in the year to March 31 with full-year pre-tax profits expected to be in line with forecasts.
Asos chief executive Nick Robertson said he is “approaching this year with considerably more confidence”, after a 38% surge in retail sales to £206m in the period. UK retail sales increased 23%, with international sales rocketing 101%.
Since year end Asos said retail sales have “accelerated”, up 56% across the group, and up 25% in the UK, in the 19 days to April 19.
International sales soared 148% in the period, with the US, Denmark, France, Australia, Ireland and Germany performing particularly well.
Robertson said: “It was another excellent year for ASOS. The year was characterised by more conservative planning, specifically around stock levels, a focus on operational and financial controls and the introduction of key customer initiatives such as free returns. Simultaneously we have been developing our International business and remain on track to launch our US, French and German websites this year.
“We are approaching this year with considerably more confidence. Demand for our spring / summer ranges have been very strong and the Internet continues to outperform the other retail channels”.
Asos will announce its preliminary results for the year to March 31 on June 9.
