Asos has hired Marks & Spencer interim chief information officer Clifford Cohen to replace Pete Marsden, who is leaving after two years in the role.

Cohen will take on the position of chief information officer (CIO) at the online fashion retailer after it was revealed in September that Marsden was leaving the business by “mutual consent” after two years in the role.

Cohen has been acting as interim CIO at Marks & Spencer since July after incumbent Darrell Stein left to take on the same role at FMCG firm Reckitt Benckiser.

Asos has brought on Cohen as it seeks to introduce a fit-for-purpose enterprise resource planning platform to rectify order-processing problems, according to CIO.co.uk.

Marks & Spencer hired Cohen from Accenture eight years ago to take on the role of business solutions manager.

During his career at Marks & Spencer, Cohen has risen up the ranks to take on roles including the head of IT for the firm’s multichannel operation, before being handed the interim CIO job.

Asos has experienced a high turnover of CIO’s after Marsden became the third CIO to leave Asos since 2010 following Gary Mudie and Dan West both departing the retailer.
