Asos has launched its first mobile site to allow customers to buy products on the go.
The site lets shoppers browse and buy products across categories such as womenswear, menswear, accessories and lingerie.
The site has been designed to work across all mobile devices including Blackberry, Symbian, Android and the iPhone.
Asos said 24,000 orders have been processed over the last six months through mobile phones using the main website. Asos attracts 175,000 visits to the site from mobile devices every week.
Asos ecommerce director at James Hart said: “I’m delighted to bring a much-improved shopping experience to our customers coming to ASOS from their mobile phones. And this is just the start of a very exciting journey to offer them their ASOS, their way.”
Marks & Spencertapped into mobile commerce in May, allowing customers to browse and buy 24,000 products, including clothing, from their mobile. John Lewis also unveilled a mobile-optimised version of its web site this week.
Asos today posted sales of £69.7m for the three months to September 30, up 47% on the year before. UK sales were up 21% to £43.7m while international sales surged 128% to £26m.
