Asos has signed a £100m contract for the management of its global distribution centre with logistics provider Norbert Dentressangle.
Under the deal, Norbert Dentressangle will manage Asos’ online fulfilment centre in Barnsley for three years. It took over management of the distribution centre in August.
Asos has also submitted a proposal to extend the facility by 25%, doubling the storage capacity at the site, as it continues to grow its international presence.
Asos supply chain direction Mark Holland said: “The partnership with Norbert Dentressangle will continue to drive the Asos global service proposition, creating an efficient customer-focused experience, and supporting our mission to become the world’s number one online destination for young fashion.”
The distribution centre has 1.1 million sq ft of floor space and employs over 1,200 people – all staff were offered the opportunity to transfer to Norbert Dentressangle from Asos’s former service provider.
Norbert Dentressangle also works with House of Fraser, Marks & Spencer, Shop Direct Group and Surfdome.
