Online homewares specialist Occa-Home has received investment from William Currie Group, the early stage investor which has previously backed Asos and The Hut.
The investment, of an undisclosed sum, has been matched by ecommerce specialist IDE Group chairman Bill Dobbie, who originally provided seed funding for Occa-Home.
Occa-Home is to invest the funds in expanding digital marketing and web development, as well as increasing the number of brands and range on its site. The retailer also aims to expand internationally.
William Currie Group directors Bill Currie, formerly a retail analyst and founder of Fragrance Shop, and Iain McDonald, have joined the retailer’s board.
Occa-Home operations director Jim Mooney said: “Homes and gardens was one of the last sectors to move online. It is the fastest growing sector, yet remains relatively immature. With our expanding e-commerce and digital marketing abilities, we are aiming to become one of the leading e-commerce businesses in the UK”.
Bill Currie said: “The team at Occa have built a fantastic website and excellent distribution network making them one of the leading independent retailers in this sector. They have the right foundations in place for a great e-commerce business and we are looking forward to working with them to achieve that”
