Australian retailer Target has drafted in further British talent with the appointment of Graeme Jenkins as finance director.
The appointment of Jenkins, who joins from Virgin Media where he held the same role, follows that of former Tesco clothing boss Richard Jones, who is joining Target in September as merchandise trading director, and Shop Direct Group buying and merchandising director of furniture and homewares Damian Walton, who joins as general manager homewares.
Last month, Target – led by former Sainsbury’s and Asda director Stuart Machin – appointed Jonathon Fitzgerald as merchandise planning, space and range director. He starts in December and moves from Matalan.
Machin joined Target in April after moving from grocer Coles. Both businesses are owned by Wesfarmers.
His recruitment drive in the UK mirrors his own arrival at Coles in 2008 when he was part of a team - including Archie Norman, famed for turning around Asda, and former Halfords boss Ian McLeod - parachuted in to revive Coles’ fortunes.
