The founder of Bank, the JD-owned young fashion chain, is to launch his new online retail business targeting the young womenswear fashion market in September

Andy Scott - who is understood to have funded the business himself, along with supplementary investment from an unnamed venture capitalist firm - has named the business Dressmeonline.co.uk, although sources said this is a working title and could be changed before the live launch to consumers. The site already has a landing page and blog content.

Scott has poached the head buyer from fashion etailer Boohoo.com, Haley Rock, who is expected to be joining Scott’s head office team in Manchester, which already employs around 18 people.

The yet-to-launch etailer is already placing a strong emphasis on social networking, having launched a Facebook page. It is also recruiting for a team of bloggers.

On Facebook, the etailer describes itself as “a new kind of online boutique, presenting bespoke edited fashion just for you”.

Scott co-founded Bank in 1994 but sold it to JD Sports Fashion for £18.5m in 2007. He initially stayed on in the role of buying director but left the business last October.
