Body Shop International is to integrate its global operations with SAP's enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform.
The system, which will provide core business functions, such as financial processes and supply chain management, will be rolled out over the next three years to the retailer's 2,000 wholly owned and franchised outlets in the UK, Ireland, the US, Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and African regions.
The global roll out will be used to support massive growth in the retailer's estate over the next two years and builds upon an existing use of SAP within its US operations.
Body Shop global head of IT Jon Granville said: 'As we continue to expand our business internationally we need a single enterprise-wide IT platform to effectively manage the increasing scale and complexity of our global operation.
'We chose SAP for its retail expertise, global reach and solution scope. Our global SAP roll out is a business initiative that will help us improve our key processes that drive competitive advantage at each local outlet. Building on the benefits gained in the US, SAP for Retail will help us provide targeted support throughout our sales and distribution network and ultimately deliver better service to our customers.'
The first stage of the roll out will start this summer, with the integration of a common PoS platform overseen by SAP specialist Diagonal Consulting. This initial phase is expected to improve the retailers ability to manage sales data.
Other projects include pricing, promotions, procurement and warehouse management.
