Borders UK is to shut all its stores on Tuesday unless a buyer for the business is found, putting 1,150 jobs in jeopardy.
Administrator MCR said while it is in “advanced stages of negotiations with a number of parties” about purchasing certain stores or assets of Borders, no deal has been finalised.
HMV is still in talks to take on some stores, as are fashion chains including All Saints. Last week Retail Week revealed Books etc founder Richard Joseph was
considering purchasing nine “key” stores.
The bookseller has been selling non-book related products such as dolls and Denby pottery in its closing down Sales, as well as the store’s fixtures and fittings.
