TalkTalk's UK customer base leaped 63.4 per cent to almost 1.1 million. A 25.1 per cent increase in the group's mobile customer base helped to boost user numbers to 2.6 million for the 13 weeks to October 1.
Chief executive Charles Dunstone (pictured) said: 'We have enjoyed another excellent quarter of growth. Overall performance in the first half has been ahead of our expectations and we expect interim headline profits to be up 35 per cent year on year.'
Evolution retail analyst Nick Bubb said: 'The trading update is a bit mixed, with total connections up 15 per cent in the 13 weeks to October 1. As expected, the rate of growth of pre-pay connections slowed from the first quarter, because of strong performance this time last year.'
