Tesco has launched the first of a series of Christmas TV adverts.
The grocer’s advert has hit TV screens. It depicts a mum looking for the sought after Furby toy along the supermarket aisles before finding the toy singing Lionel Ritchie’s ‘Hello’ to her.
The eagerly anticipated advert is the second TV ad created by Tesco’s new advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy since it won the £110m advertising account earlier this year.
The advert is the first of a series which will feature famous songs and promotes Tesco’s Clubcard Exchange deal.
Tesco group marketing and digital officer Matt Atkinson said: “When we looked long and hard at our Christmas campaign this year with our friends at Wieden + Kennedy, we wanted our focus to be on what matters to the families of Britain and that we deliver what matters.
“Our campaign is built around key stages of the Christmas journey. The first starts today as we’re gearing up for Christmas, stocking up and planning ahead. Here we are working hard to help; a Clubcard Christmas exchange, a big Clubcard statement to help you with your Christmas plans, with brilliant festive aisles and on-line activity.”
He added: “The next stage is about getting into the spirit of Christmas; the gifts, the ingredients and a little indulgence. That’s where we’ll focus on the key areas of our offer; Click & Collect for gifts, Christmas ingredients and our Finest range.”
