The Bill passed its third reading in the Commons earlier this week and has returned from the House of Lords with amendments. These will be discussed in the Commons today and should the vote go in favour of the Bill it will be passed for Royal Assent.
Shopworkers' union Usdaw applauded the initiative. Usdaw general secretary John Hannett said: 'This legislation will be greeted with a huge sigh of relief by millions of retail staff who were worried some retailers were looking to open on December 25. Our members can now rest assured they will be able to enjoy Christmas Day with their families and friends.'
