JD Sports Fashion has bought branded footwear retailer Cloggs in a pre-pack administration deal.

The etailer’s current management team will stay on board and its Birmingham base will be retained.

The acquisition follows JD’s buy of fashion brand Gio Goi earlier this month.

JD Sports Fashion executive chairman Peter Cowgill said: “We are very pleased to be supporting Cloggs. Its branded casual footwear offer includes many leading and famous brands and we look forward to investing in the development of the website and working with the brands to extend its offer.”

The sport retailer fought off stiff competition from fast-growing etail business The Hut Group which was also vying to snap up the footwear website.
