SuperGroup has hired Burberry distribution director Gordon Knox to lead its critical logistics arm.
Knox, who takes on the role of head of logistics, starts at the retailer with immediate effect and reports into chief operating officer Susanne Given.
Knox has been at Burberry since 2005 and was responsible for the strategic design and operation of its global distribution network which handles over 20 million units per annum.
He also has significant experience of distribution in the Far East.
His appointment is the latest move from Supergroup - which famously suffered an IT glitch which affected a new warehouse management system wiping £9m off profits in its last financial year - to improve its operational prowess.
Given, who joined the retailer last year, has pushed forward improvements such as its impending move to a new distribution centre in Burton, which will help it cope with its rapid growth.
Supergroup chief operating officer Susanne Given said: “Gordon is a very high pedigree appointment joining us from Burberry, one of the other real success stories of recent years.
“His experience in setting up new distribution hubs will be utilised immediately as we transfer our business over the next year to Burton and in due course overseas as the Superdry brand, its ecommerce operations and estate expands globally.”
