Sainsbury’s this week launched the latest phase of its “Feed your family for a fiver” campaign and is using social networking site Facebook to drive customer interaction.
The TV ad features one of Sainsbury’s Try Team staff – who have been picked to star in ads and online and to show shoppers how to prepare meals – cooking caramelised apple hot dogs with potato wedges.
The grocer has set up a Facebook page for customers to share ideas. “We hope that they will use the site to spread recipes and tips that help them save money and reduce food waste,” said a spokesman “It will feature ideas from Sainsbury’s campaigns, such as ‘Feed your family for a fiver’, making them easily accessible for users.”
The campaign, created by ad agency AMV BBDO, is the second part of the grocer’s Try Nation push, which launched in June, designed to “help shoppers rediscover the joy of cooking by demonstrating simple twists on classic dishes”. The campaign is fronted by Jamie Oliver.
