The former bosses of Croydon department store Allders are facing questions about money owed to businesses that operated concessions in the shop.
Several concession operators say they are owed money that managers said would be held in trust accounts.
Allders, which operated one store in Croydon, fell into administration in June last year and closed in September when a buyer for the retailer could not be found.
Administrator Duff & Phelps said it had “found no evidence” of trust accounts, and the concessions would have been told to take legal advice, according to the Mail on Sunday.
Croydon milliner Hatz, which operated a concession in the store, is said to be owed £20,000. Bosses Monique Rebeiro and her mother Margaret Chatelier said they had a contractual agreement that their money would be ring-fenced.
Allders’ former management could not be reached for comment.
