Fortnum & Mason is selling online again to EU customers

Fortnum said it was the first luxury food and drink retailer to reopen delivery to the EU post-Brexit. It can now deliver to 15 countries, including France and Germany, using its new fulfilment centre in Belgium.

The fulfilment centre will allow the retailer to offer a “consistent and reliable service” to EU shoppers.

Before Brexit, EU deliveries accounted for 15% of Fortnum’s online sales. UK customers will also be able to ship to friends in the EU – which formerly accounted for half of deliveries to the continent.

At present, the website carries a curated edit of popular Fortnum products, such as hampers and Christmas puddings. The range will be increased in the run-up to Christmas.

Chief executive Tom Athron said: “Fortnum & Mason is a brand that is loved the world over, so I am delighted to be launching our new EU website to allow customers across Europe to shop with us once again.

”Outstanding customer service is vitally important to us at Fortnum’s, and our new fulfilment centre will allow us to navigate the post-Brexit export challenges to provide a robust delivery service to our customers in the EU.

”We are excited by the opportunities that our new EU website brings as our online business continues to grow, both at home and internationally. This has been an ambitious project, and I am thrilled that after 317 years, Fortnum & Mason is still delivering firsts.”
