Department store business John Lewis has launched same-day delivery outside of London, following the scheme’s success in the capital.
The retailer has extended the service, which costs customers £9.95 per order, to Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester.
The service was introduced in London a year ago and has proved popular for fashion and home accessories purchases. Items ordered by 10am are delivered between 7pm and 10pm that day.
John Lewis has also extended our click-and-collect network with the launch of 72 collection points at Dobbies Garden Centres. The arrangement takes John Lewis’ total number of collection points to 5,700. It has also made its Deliver to Yodel Store service free for orders of more than £30.
After a two-year hiatus, the retailer is again offering delivery of large items to Northern Ireland.
John Lewis head of customer fulfilment operations Eva Cullen said: “We always want to improve the service for our customers and there’s been a real appetite for same-day deliveries. With customers using it for purchases of everything from bed sheets to toothbrushes we are confident this service could have even more potential in the future.”
“We know that our click-and-collect service offers real convenience to our customers so we are delighted to be partnering with Dobbies Garden Centres to launch 72 new locations.”
