John Lewis & Partners is investing £21m in refurbishing its Peterborough store in the Queensgate shopping centre.
The refurbishment will see the entire 93,000 sq ft shop overhauled with improvements made to all departments alongside some additional new features.
The investment is part of a wider strategy to make John Lewis stores destinations that offer its customers “outstanding experiences” and products unique to John Lewis.
The improved store will feature an experience desk that provides customers with concierge-style services including personal styling, home design and a nursery advice service.
The beauty hall will introduce new brands and ranges alongside offering a variety of services and consultation experiences. Customers will be able to seek independent advice across the full range of brands and products just in time for Christmas.
The new womenswear department will offer customers one-to-one or group personal styling appointments in its Style Studio, where customers are able to choose from one of five appointments from a holiday wardrobe refresh to help finding the perfect pair of jeans.
A new customer restaurant A Place to Eat will open in the autumn, with all planned works on the store set to be completed by January 2020.
John Lewis & Partners director, store design and development Tim Harrison said: “Our shops play a critical role in our relationship with our customers and we are investing in creating destination shops that inspire our customers and deliver an outstanding shopping experience.
“With concepts such as Experience Desks and Style Studios proving a hit with customers, we are continuing with our plans to roll these services out to more shops. This investment and the improvements we are making will bring the very best of John Lewis & Partners to Peterborough and we are looking forward to welcoming our customers to their new-look shop.”
