M&S has hired Vic Self as its new digital director of clothing, home and food as it ramps up plans to become a digital-first retailer.
Self – currently Dixons Carphone customer director – will join the high street stalwart in late January, taking up the role previously occupied by David Walmsley and – for a short while – Marcus East.
Self will report to customer, marketing and M&S.com executive director Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne.
The hire is central to M&S’ aim of bolstering its digital proposition. Earlier this year, it commenced a trial of a new food delivery service.
Commenting on the appointment, Bousquet-Chavanne said: “As we develop our plans to become a digital-first retailer, Victoria brings extensive customer and digital experience to M&S.”
Self joined Carphone Warehouse as online director in 2009, responsible for its multichannel strategy.
Prior to this, she headed up the ecommerce divisions at Urban Outfitters and Mothercare.
