Simultaneously, DSG, formerly known as Dixons, is accelerating its central European expansion programme and aims to open 20 more shops in the region as quickly as possible - there are 14 at present in Hungary and the Czech Republic.
The debut of the Electro World chain in Warsaw's Targowek commercial centre brings the number of countries in which DSG trades to 14.
A second Polish outlet will open before Christmas and six more by the end of next year. DSG also intends to share properties with Swedish furniture group Ikea.
DSG chief executive John Clare said the growth programme was an exciting phase in the development of Electro World, which opened its first shop in Budapest in 2002.
The decision to press the button on Electro World's central European expansion followed a financial review of performance in the Czech Republic and Hungary. Shops are delivering results 'in line with, or better than, management expectations,' Clare said.
Electro World managing director, central Europe Milan Ruzicka said: 'We have had a fantastic reaction from customers to our unique format and our repeat visitor figures are a clear indication of sustainable demand.'
