DSGi expects to save at least US$1 million (£497,224) a year by using a managed printing infrastructure that has been implemented by Lexmark.

Nearly 5,000 monochrome and colour laser printers, along with multifunction devices, have been installed at DSGi’s headquarters, stores and distribution centres. All devices have been added to the retailer’s network to increase efficiency and cut costs.

Lexmark is also working with DSGi to simplify, streamline and speed up labour-intensive business processes in stores. By working with Lexmark’s consultants, it expects to make additional cost savings through continuous improvements.

PC World stores have also been equipped with work-group colour laser printers to produce full-colour point-of-sale material on site, which will save time and money when new material needs to be put in place rapidly.

Lexmark will provide services – such as consumables management, proactive diagnosis and resolution and reporting – for the duration of the four-year multimillion-pound contract.

The set-up also ticks the green box. DSGi said that the number of toner cartridges used will fall by 22 per cent under the new initiative.
