Dutch fashion retailer The Sting has confirmed it will open its first UK shop in the famous Tower Records store on London’s Regent Street.
The Sting, which has more than 75 stores in the Netherlands and has recently expanded into Germany and Belgium, will open the store next spring.
The retailer sells more than 25 specialist brands sold in a shop-within-a-shop format.
The Regent Street store, owned by Crown Estates and previously occupied by collapsed entertainment retailer Zavvi, covers 33,875 sq ft across three floors and a mezzanine. The shop has direct basement access from Piccadilly Circus Underground station.
The store has remained vacant since Zavvi fell into administration in December.
The Sting’s founder Herman Franzen said: “We believe this unique location – the only one that we are selecting in London - is a perfect fit for showcasing our international fashion brand and we are excited about the opportunity.”
Harper Dennis Hobbs acted for The Sting, while Cushman & Wakefield and Nash Bond acted for Standard Life Investments, which owns the long leasehold.
