Electricals spare parts and accessories e-tailer eSpares.co.uk has launched product reviews and customer-generated questions and answers on its web site.
The site, which receives 450,000 unique visitors each month, stocks 300,000 products and is benefiting from the downturn.
The ratings and reviews service, which has been provided by Bazaarvoice, has generated more than 2,500 product reviews so far. Feedback from the Ask & Answer service – where customers can post questions relating to products and other customers can answer them – has also led eSpares to pull a couple of product lines that were not
performing well.
ESpares marketing director Matt Henton said that one of the big benefits of the content generated will be that it makes product information on the site as accurate as possible. In addition, it will help customers find products through natural search.
He explained: “Search engines give priority to pages that are regularly updated and customers use language that we would not necessarily use in product descriptions – the same language that other customers use to search.”
