Electricals giant Dixons Carphone’s travel retail business has unveiled plans to open five new stores in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf airports by the end of 2018.
The openings follow two Dixons Travel stores in Oslo last year, extending the retailer’s European presence. It has 29 travel stores in the UK and Ireland.
Dixons Travel and concessions managing director Heidi Woodhouse said: “We’re excited to be bringing our new-look Dixons Travel stores to more shoppers across Europe, providing a unique shopping experience – this time designed especially with the German market in mind.
“Through this new store offering, we aim to share our extensive product range, exclusive deals and competitive prices with a rapidly expanding market. We are excited about our venture into wider Europe and will look to explore further opportunities.”
The German stores will open this spring and adopt the ‘digital concept’ design including product demonstration areas, a mobile phone charging area, Knowhow advisors who can repair devices and a range of “smart-controlled tech”.
