UK communications vendor Equiinet has launched a product that is designed to cut the cost of online training for retailers.
Companies with high staff turnover and large numbers of remote locations are increasingly using online tuition to train staff, according to Pitman Training.
Equiinet has introduced a product line which it says will solve the cost and logistical problems that prevent many retailers from exploiting online training.
The group claimed that its Content Server enables retailers to send out training videos from their headquarters to their branches, using existing low-bandwidth communication links.
It claims the cost savings on broadband charges and centralised training schemes could bring about an immediate return on investment.
Equiinet managing director Bob Jones said: 'It is important that companies can do more with their existing infrastructure, without disrupting the core activities the network is there for, such as credit card transactions and stock control.'
The company is presently in talks with online training companies - one of which is thought to be Pitman Training - in order to form partnerships aimed at promoting affordable video.
