Ethel Austin grants Bibby distribution task

Ethel Austin has handed over full responsibility for its distribution operation to Bibby Distribution, following plans to open 200 new stores.

The three-year deal, worth£5 million, will see Bibby handling supplies to Ethel Austin's 280 stores in the UK. Previously, Bibby only distributed to stores outside the Northwest.

The initiative is part of a rationalisation following a£122.5 million buy-out last month, backed ABN AMRO Capital.

Ethel Austin this year celebrates the 70th anniversary of its first store opening in Liverpool. It is also in the process of appointing a chairman.
