The bicycle and accessories retailer is the latest in a series of retailers to join the BRC, including Aldi, Asos, Disney, HMV, Thorntons and Wyevale Garden Centres.
Evans Cycles managing director Mike Rice said: “As we continue to expand, there is real value for us in supporting the BRC’s work to help achieve an environment in which retail businesses can flourish. The BRC understands the importance of retail and the pressures on retailers, and has the expertise and experience to be able to use its influence successfully.”
Evans Cycles was founded in 1921 and now has over 30 stores and an online operation.
BRC director-general Stephen Robertson said: “Welcoming Evans Cycles is clear evidence that the BRC works for every part of retailing – food and non-food, large and small, store-based and online. The bigger the BRC becomes and the more of retailing we represent, the better we are able to press politicians at every level to create conditions that allow all our members to thrive.”
