Richer Sounds founder Julian Richer and Primark boss Paul Marchant were among the big winners at the Retail Week Awards 2019 sponsored by Salesforce.
Richer picked up The AlixPartners Outstanding Contribution to Retail award for his pioneering approach to business, putting staff at the heart of his company – and retailers he has advised.
Having previously worked alongside Archie Norman at Asda, Richer has been drafted in again by the now-Marks & Spencer chair to help drive the turnaround being led by Norman and boss Steve Rowe.
Primark boss Marchant scooped the Clarity Retail Leader of the Year prize after overseeing another stellar 12 months at the fashion giant.
Marchant’s award was not the only one Primark was celebrating. The value operator also picked up the Salesforce Best Retailer Over £250m award.
Among the other winners on the night were Ann Summers boss Jacqueline Gold, who won the inaugural Retail Activist Award for her tireless work in championing the role of women in senior leadership roles, and etail titan Amazon, which scooped the Hitachi Capital Consumer Choice Award for the second year running.
