Fashion specialist SuperGroup has acquired its Scandinavian distributor, Smac Group, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal gives SuperGroup the right to trade its Superdry brand in Denmark, Finland and Norway.
SuperGroup said the purchase would enable it to meet its “ambitious plans” in the Nordic region.
SuperGroup will be able to invest in store openings and aims to improve wholesale margins.
Smac’s management, headed by Stine Elmkvist and Lars Thygesen, will stay with SuperGroup enabling the UK retailer to retain local operational and management expertise.
SuperGroup has been buying up other international distributors. Last year it acquired its Spanish and German partners.
SuperGroup chief executive Julian Dunkerton said: “Our pan-European strategy is progressing well. We remain fully focused on maximizing the global opportunity for the Superdry brand.”
He said he would provide more details on how the overseas business is progressing when SuperGroup issues full-year results on July 10.
