Asos head of commercial change and operations Anthony Benham has quit after 16 years at the online retailer as turmoil at the business continues.
Benham joined the business in 2006 as a senior menswear merchandiser.
His other roles at Asos have included retail project manager in 2012 and senior business change partner in 2016 before being promoted to head of commercial change and operations in 2021.
In a LinkedIn post Benham said: “The word journey is often used but, for me, it definitely applies to my time at Asos. Both professionally and personally, I have dealt with an enormous amount of change.
“Asos grew from a £50m business to the multi-billion pound company it is today and I loved every minute of it. It was extremely challenging at times but unbelievably rewarding.”
The news comes after Asos was approached by Alibaba-backed Turkish fast-fashion etailer Trendyol in a £1bn buyout bid.
Shortly after, Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group increased its stake in Asos from 7.4% to 8.8%, making it the third-largest shareholder in the business.
The move comes after a feud about board control was reported between Frasers Group and Asos’ largest investor, Danish retail conglomerate Bestseller.
