Contemporary womenswear label Bastyan, which is backed by Coast, Warehouse and Oasis owner Aurora Fashions, is to open a pop-up store.
The brand - launched by Tonia Bastyan, one half of 1990s British womenswear design duo Press & Bastyan - opened as a concession business in Spring 10 and is sold in John Lewis, Mary Portas’s collection in House of Fraser and department store Brown Thomas in Ireland.
According to a report in the Independent on Sunday, Bastyan hopes to capitalise on the over 35 womenswear market with the launch of its first pop-up shop on London’s Regent Street.
The range comprises day-to-night pieces and includes draping in muted colours paired with sharp tailoring and fluid dresses. Retail prices range from £60 to £350.
In the 1990s Karen Millen - which was then owned by Aurora Fashions, but has since be spun off - bought Press & Bastyan, which traded from 15 stores and various concessions for eight years. Prior to launching the Bastyan brand, Tonia Bastyan worked as a designer at contemporary womenswear retailer Whistles.
The details of the financial arrangement between Aurora and Bastyan remain unclear.
