British footwear retailer Clarks has named former Under Armour global vice-president of retail Bob Neville as its new managing director for the UK and Ireland.
Neville is expected to join the business next month as he returns to the UK from Hong Kong, where he has been based for 30 years.
During his career while living in Hong Kong Neville has worked “extensively” throughout the Asia Pacific and particularly with a focus on China.
Nevile has carried out senior roles at retailers including New Balance and Adidas, and joins Clarks with a “proven track record of leading profitable businesses” in the industry.
He will take responsibility for activating the footwear retailer’s “long-term strategy of sustainable growth and brand-strengthening”.
Clarks chief executive Jon Ram said: “Bob brings significant global retail and brand creative experience to Clarks. He builds great teams and empowers them to create exceptional consumer experiences.
“As we look to build on our recent good company performance, Bob will play a leading role in delivering our strategic goals and growing our business in the UK and Ireland. We will also build out our global retail centre of excellence under his leadership.”
Neville added: “I’m excited to be coming back to England and joining Clarks. It’s an iconic brand, known the world over for its innovation, expertise and craftsmanship.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started, growing the brand, increasing our retail presence, and most importantly, to continue delivering Clarks’ customers the best experience possible.”
