Shoppers are predicted to spend nearly £1bn online as part of Cyber Monday today, slightly less than the forecasted ecommerce spend on Black Friday.
Analyst Experian-IMRG expect about £943m to be spent online today, up from £720m last year.
It predicts that spending online on Friday totalled £1.07bn, the first time that ecommerce sales are believed to have broken the £1bn barrier in one day in the UK.
Amazon reported its biggest-ever sales day on Friday as 6 million items were ordered. Shop Direct also reported its largest trading day with sales up 36% year on year.
It reflected a shift to online as industry ecommerce sales rose, while footfall in physical stores declined year on year.
Research by VoucherCodes.co.uk and The Centre for Retail Research predicts that spending online and in stores over Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday will have totalled £3.49bn.
