Debenhams.com already sells 10,000 brands ahead of its expansion

The move forms part of parent company Boohoo Group’s expansion drive as the number of brands sold by Debenhams has reached 10,000.

Debenhams chief executive Dan Filey revealed the news to Drapers and said this is an opportunity for existing partners to “reach consumers in other territories and provide another avenue for growth” while allowing international brands to sell to the UK consumer through the platform.

The sites in Ireland and Australia will sell “hundreds of local and international brands”.

Boohoo also plans to launch a Nasty Gal marketplace in the US.

Debenhams is adding a fulfilment service in the coming months, which its UK brand partners can join to offer next-day delivery for shoppers. Stock will be stored and dispatched from Boohoo’s distribution centre in Sheffield.

Filey said: “We are excited to launch and bring back Debenhams to Ireland in the coming months. There have been lots of demand with the consumers and with our partner base.

“In Australia, we have had Debenhams stores there historically and we think there is a great opportunity to bring our new Debenhams business back to the Australian market this year.

“We are building a community of millions of customers and thousands of brands. We aim to become the ultimate shopping destination for fashion, home and beauty.”
