Canadian outdoor apparel and accessories retailer Arc’teryx is opening a new flagship store on King Street, Covent Garden, Retail Week can reveal.
The new 8,000 sq ft store will see the brand “significantly upsize” from its current store in Covent Garden, which is on Long Acre and set to close early next year after the new flagship opens.
The store will offer shoppers a “comprehensive collection” of its ranges including apparel, footwear, technical gear and accessories for a variety of outdoor sports including mountaineering, climbing, hiking and skiing.
Arc’teryx opened its store in Covent Garden two years ago and it said the move reaffirms its “commitment to and success within the destination”.
The store will be neighboured by retailers including Apple, Glossier and Aesop, and follows recent openings in Covent Garden including by French activewear and running brand Hoka.
Property investment and development company Shaftesbury Capital told Retail Week the move for Arc’teryx demonstrates its position as a leader in the outdoor performance sector.
“Arc’teryx is a leader in the outdoor performance wear sector and having seen a strong performance from their first store in Covent Garden, we are excited to welcome their new enlarged concept on King Street,” said executive director Michelle McGrath.
“We always strive to identify opportunities where we can support high growth retailers within our portfolio and the investment in a larger flagship store demonstrates our approach in providing opportunities for existing tenants, as well as new.”
Arc’teryx general manager for EMEA Sven Radtke said: “The upsizing in Covent Garden is a very exciting step forward for Arc’teryx.
“We have seen a lot of success since its opening two years ago and plan to open a bigger store to fully immerse our guests into an elevated experience of our brand.
“In this key location within London, the new brand store in Covent Garden will showcase a wider range of products and services for our community to enjoy such as ReBIRD, our circularity program that focuses on the care and repair, and up-cycling of our products.”
