French Connection has reported a 2.1% uplift in like-for-like sales after a positive reaction from customers to its autumn range.
The fashion retailer said that sales improved in the 16 weeks to November 20 and it has seen a “growing impact” from operational improvements made to turnaround its performance led by chairman and chief executive Stephen Marks.
French Connection said the like-for-like improvement came despite lower levels of clearance activity early in the period.
The retailer said: “We are encouraged by the reaction to our autumn 2013 range, the first season collection from our new design team. As expected, we have also seen a growing impact from the operational improvements that have been implemented.”
Revenue in its wholesale arm was in line with last year, and the retailer said its order books for spring 14 are “slightly ahead” of this time last year.
