Exclusive: The managing director for the UK and Ireland at Inditex has stepped down from the business and the fashion giant has named a successor, Retail Week can reveal.

Retail Week understands that Max Nutz has stepped down from his role as managing director after 25 years at the company.

Inditex sources have confirmed to Retail Week that Pilar Losada has been appointed as the new managing director for the UK and Ireland and will succeed Nutz from this week.

Nutz was first appointed as managing director in May 2018, having previously joined Inditex in 1999 and also held senior international positions across the fashion retailer’s European business during his career.

Losada takes over from within the business and first joined Inditex in Spain in 2010 where she worked in its international finance department.

Most recently Losada held the position of managing director in Australia and New Zealand, and has also held other senior positions across the Spanish business, as well as for the Asia division of the group based in China.

The news comes after Inditex most recently reported a surge in profits and sales during the first half of the year as all of its brands, including Zara, Stradivarius and Bershka, posted growth.

Inditex’s current UK store estate total is 105 and the retailer also has 23 stores in Ireland, of which 58 and 10, respectively,  are Zara stores.

Most recently Inditex opened the doors to its sports and leisure brand Oysho at Westfield Stratford City, as well as a new Stradivarius store in Bristol.

The retailer’s Zara brand has also upsized in locations including Meadowhall in Sheffield, Watford and Trinity Leeds this year.

Two new stores, including a Pull & Bear and a Bershka, are also set to open at Bluewater shopping centre before the end of the year.
