John Lewis Partnership (JLP) has named Rachel Morgans as its new director of fashion, effective from June 2024.
In her new role, Morgans will work on developing JLP’s range of own-brand and branded fashion collections, which it says has seen “significant growth”.
She currently works as a creative consultant for brands in the UK and the US, including Bath & Body Works and fashion start-up Yaw Studio.
Morgans joins JLP with almost 30 years of experience across the fashion industry, having held leadership positions at the likes of Asos, Finery, Topman and Brown Thomas.
As well as her background in fashion, John Lewis said Morgans brings expertise across home and lifestyle to the business.
She is expected to join the team next month and will report to John Lewis commercial director Kathleen Mitchell.
Morgans said of her appointment: “I’m delighted to become a part of a renowned brand like John Lewis. The chance to collaborate with a talented team and make a positive impact on the lives of millions of customers is an incredible opportunity.”
Mitchell said: “Rachel’s passion and expertise will be invaluable to John Lewis. She has extensive experience in design, innovation and leadership within the fashion industry.
“We are thrilled to have her join us during this exciting time as we continue to enhance our fashion offerings and help our customers look and feel their best.”
John Lewis said the news aligns with its ongoing investment in bringing customers “new and refreshed fashion ranges, as well as revitalised in-store and digital experiences”.
The retailer reported a rise in sales across fashion and beauty in March this year, which the group credited to its omnichannel presence, helping it attract a record 13.4 million customers.
John Lewis has also introduced 100 new fashion brands in 2024, including Sister Jane and Hayley Menzies.
