Rapper Kanye West has signed a “multi-year partnership” deal to launch Yeezy Gap – a new line of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing that will launch in Gap’s stores and online in 2021.
West announced the news on Twitter by sharing a version of the Gap logo with the letters YZY in place of GAP.
The announcement marks a return to the brand for West, who worked in a Gap store in Chicago as a teenager.
The fashion label aims to bring “modern, elevated basics for men, women and kids at accessible price points”, but will not include footwear as the Yeezy brand has already collaborated with Adidas for this.
West has also filed to trademark the Yeezy label for beauty and skincare, according to TMZ.
Global head of Gap brand Mark Breitbard said in a statement: “We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the success of his Yeezy brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership.”
Gap has been struggling in recent years, recording almost $1bn losses amid the coronavirus pandemic.
