Fashion retailer Matalan has announced Phil Hackney as the company’s new chief supply chain operations officer and Katherine Davis as chief retail officer.
Matalan said the two new senior roles have been created to “support Matalan’s transformation” and they will report to chief executive Jo Whitfield who took the helm in March this year.
Hackney is set to begin his role on July 3 and joins from The Very Group where he was most recently chief operating officer. He also previously held executive roles at retailers including Boots and Pets at Home.
Davis will focus on “executing Matalan’s retail strategy” in her new role, starting next month, and joins Matalan from Paperchase where she was global retail director. During her career she also previously held senior roles at Asda, Marks & Spencer and Pets at Home.
The appointments follow the departure of Matalan operations director Mike Jeans, who is leaving the business after more than 20 years to “progress his career from executive retail to broader business advisory”.
Whitfield said: “I am thrilled to welcome Phil and Katherine as two great new additions to the senior executive team as we continue to move at pace through our transformation.
“We will be able to benefit from their deep industry experience as they support Matalan’s executional excellence in their respective focus areas.
“I would like to extend huge thanks to Mike for his instrumental role in shaping Matalan throughout his impressive tenure with the business.
“He has proved an inspiration and support to colleagues across the store estate and I am sure he will be very successful with the next phase of his career.”
